Target Audience:

Headteachers, members of Schools Senior Leadership teams, Designated Safeguarding Leads, Business Managers and any role that has responsibility for maintaining schools Single central records.

 

Overview:

A workshop covering Safer Recruitment practice and the wider context of safeguarding.

  • Safer recruitment and the wider context of safeguarding
  • Prevalence of abuse and profile of abusers*
  • How abusers operate within organisations
  • Features of a safer recruitment process
  • Planning a safer recruitment process
  • Making the right decisions: interview and selection
  • Setting acceptable standards of behaviour

*This aspect of the workshop involves listening to an audio recording of the words of a former abuser.  Some participants may find this material unsettling, and the trainer will seek to ensure that you are given the opportunity to withdraw from the workshop at that point, if requested

A short pre course reading document will be sent to delegates in advance of the training.

PARKING:

Car-parking is available for visitors to the Atkins Centre and Centre Staff alike at the front of the school, please enter by the gates from Sevenoaks Way (opposite Cornwall Drive). Please do not park in unmarked spaces, or in marked visitors’ spaces (unless previously booked). Parking is provided on a first come, first served, basis. If there are no spaces available there is alternative parking for Atkins Centre visitors on the roads surrounding the College. Please use the pedestrian access at the front of the College on Sevenoaks Way, if necessary.

Visitors to the Atkins Centre are advised that under no circumstances are they to seek to park/gain access via the rear of the College, to ensure the College maintains its safeguarding responsibilities.

 

DRESS CODE:

Just a reminder that all attendees are expected to be dressed in a professional and business-like manner unless otherwise stated in the event details.

 

 

ULEZ Charges:

The Atkins Centre falls just inside the new ULEZ congestion zone, which means if you have a non-compliant car you will need to pay a £12.50 fee on the day you visit the centre. The government have deemed this a non-claimable expense meaning that 51³Ô¹ÏÍøare not allowed to refund it to staff.

A lot of cars are ULEZ compliant, so you won’t have to pay the fee. check your car by
